Are you initiating the install commands from the server side?

I can think of several things off the top of my head, but not sure they are what you want...

1) initiate from the client on a schedule.

Schedule a cron job on each client to do an update on a schedule... Have the server host the files via SMB (windows shares), FTP, or other means. The clients download the files from the server and run them

2) initiate from the server side. (on a schedule or not)

SSH/telnet into the clients and perform the previous mentioned task. You could possibly integrate this into a script and run using the task scheduler in wondows to do this on a schedule (or from a click of the mouse)

3) initiate from the server (not on a schedule)

install VNC on the clients, VNC from the server to the clien ts and have the clients perform the updates.

This option allows the most features, but would probably be the slowest option and take up the most computung/network resources.

For any of these I can see hosting the files to be updated using SAMBA/ windows shares or FTP.

Commands could be initiated by the server, but ultimately it would be up to the clients to gownload the necessary files and install them.
