Installing NVidia drivers ->Unresolved errors..

Hello,
I am re-installing my NVidia drivers.
This requires 2 files :

NVIDIA_kernel.tar.gz
NVIDIA_GLX.tar.gz

I have unpacked these and attempted to install using these commands:
$ tar xvzf NVIDIA_kernel.tar.gz
$ tar xvzf NVIDIA_GLX.tar.gz
$ cd NVIDIA_kernel
$ make install
$ cd ../NVIDIA_GLX
$ make install

The NVIDIA_GLX loads no problem but the NVIDIA_kernel gives a load of 'unresolved errors".
using modprobe gives the same error.

can anybody please help
thanks in advance

R

Well, what are the errors, exactly? Are you re-installing or upgrading?
