installing lib or libraries or *.so is not working
Im a linux newb. I am tryin to install an xine ui. I installed the tar file w/ the libs and base and what not, but now it says i am missing dependencies. i was wondering if someone could tell me where i need to get these lib files from and where to place them... much thanks... btw here is my error
[root@localhost xine]# rpm -i totem-0.99.0-fr1.i386.rpm
warning: totem-0.99.0-fr1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e42d547b
error: Failed dependencies:
liblirc_client.so.0 is needed by totem-0.99.0-fr1
libxine.so.1 is needed by totem-0.99.0-fr1
lirc is needed by totem-0.99.0-fr1
xine-lib >= 1.0.0 is needed by totem-0.99.0-fr1
Generally it's not a good idea to install it from two seperate package format, because you installed xine-lib from source it won't be in your rpm database, and the xine-ui rpm won't know it's there.
Try getting both packages in src.rpm and rebuild them, or get both in binary rpm, or install xine-ui from source.
wonderful i install them sh configure, make, make install -- sweet no errors
i go to /usr/local/bin then run xine... the gui runs and then it freezes and i cant touch anything, so i go check the console and it freezes right here--
in a perfect world i would like to play off of my 3rd hard drive that i use as a fileserver. for both win 2000 and linux. It is ntfs partitioned perfectly--can acces all files from both OS (used linux ntfs project). Do i need to somehow specify a device? please someone help!!
