installing development packages

I am using the package management tool for redhat. I am trying to install the KDE development packages and it says I have several dependencies. kdelibs, kdebase, kdegraphics. I already have these packages but they are NEWER versions than what the package management tool is asking for. Is there a way to make the package management tool to recognize this?

KDE often has compatibility problems between different versions of KDE. You are best off to make all of KDE the same version. Probably you should upgrade all of KDE tomatch the highest version number that you have installed.

KDE's extreme version dependency also extends to Qt. For many of the KDE 3 versions the KDE version number must match the Qt version number.

Be prepared. Create a LifeBoat CD.
