installing and running .exe files in Linux/Ubuntu

Not sure where to post this so I started in the general forum.

I own a motorcycle which has a power commander unit installed. Basicaly its a computer interface unit that allows us to install/load up air/fuel ratio's (maps) and do fine tuning via a laptop or computer.

So, now that I have made the move to Linux, I need to look into making the software program function with Linux. I am assuming that the software is designed for Windows, and probably a version for Mac as well.

Is there a way I can get the program modified to run within the Linux/Ubuntu OS??
The initial error I get when I attempt to install the program is ;

Archive: /home/gchalifoux/Downloads/pciisoft2000.exe
[/home/gchalifoux/Downloads/pciisoft2000.exe]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/gchalifoux/Downloads/pciisoft2000.exe or
/home/gchalifoux/Downloads/pciisoft2000.exe.zip, and cannot find /home/gchalifoux/Downloads/pciisoft2000.exe.ZIP, period.

Hya,

You may find wine or dosemu useful.

Cheers!

Hi Gchalifoux;
Those files are for windows only. *.exe files don't work in linux directly, hence the recommendation by kaz2100 to install and use wine or dosemu. They are emulators for running windows programs.

Have you contacted the authors of the *.exe programs to see if they have a port to linux? Another alternative is to run a virtual machine (virtualbox, VMware, etc.) with a windows client.

What kind of hardware does the power commander have?

Tom
