Installed mdk10 official - missing mandrake control center

Download the mdk 10 official raw tree and made 5 iso's out of it, did a standard install but i'm missing the mandrake control center. Does anyone know how to install the control center.

Everyone seems to be having this problem lately (this is the third post on this I've seen). How odd.

Anyway, the fast solution is to open a terminal, su to root, and type urpmi rpmdrake.

This should install RPMDrake from the CDs (with its dependencies if any). But at this point, I'd check the Mandrake site and look at the Errata to see if there's a suggested Mandrake solution, as they must know about this by now. At least, one would hope.

Thanks, already tried that and it said everything already installed. I have a look at the mandrake site and do some more google searching

Had you changed your Software Sources to reflect the new ISOs when you tried it? Maybe it's not aware that there's a new version available.

If all else fails, you might try pulling the .rpm off the CDs and installing it manually. Now, of course, we're well into the realm of totally inelegant hackarounds with that advice, but unless Mandrake has a better idea, there may not be much other choice.

Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I too have this problem. HELP!

On one PC I ugraded from 9.2, I only needed to URPMI rpmdrake. On another, I needed to URPMI rpmdrake and drakconf (mcc is a link pointing to drakconf.)

I've had the same issue. Followed the advice of the third(?) post
urpmi rpmdrake
I found that the modules called by the control center were installed but the main level app wasn't and it wasn't added to the menu. A quick
urpmi drakeconf
solved the problem.

I used package update, check all security updates and installed.

As usual, the updater freezed after installation seemed to be finished, and I had to kill it.

Afterwards, several menu choices of mine has dissapeared, including MMC (Configure your computer), all packaging tools etc. First, they were just dead links on the menus, now the menu choices are gone too.

I can not execute drakconf from root console (command not found).

In my home/user/.kde/share/applnk-mdk/ there is no Configure folder, howere there is one under System/Configure.

In usr/bin/ there is no drakconf, nore in usr/sbin.

When trying urpmi rpmdrake or urpmi drakconf I get
Some package requested cannot be installed:
drakconf-10-0.7mdk.i586 (due to missing drakxtools-10-34.2.100mdk.i586)
drakxtools-10-34.2.100mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied perl-Glib[>= 1.021-3mdk]) (Y/n)

When trying urpmi rpmdrake I get
Some package requested cannot be installed:
drakxtools-10-34.2.100mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied perl-Glib[>= 1.021-3mdk])
rpmdrake-2.1.3-2.2.100mdk.i586 (due to missing drakxtools-10-34.2.100mdk.i586)

And finally, when trying urpmi drakxtools I get
[root@zark /]# urpmi drakxtools
Some package requested cannot be installed:
drakxtools-10-34.2.100mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied perl-Glib[>= 1.021-3mdk])

So, my problems is many but if I could get teh perl-Glib to be "satisfied" I guess I could work my way out of it...

What is te unsatisfied perl-Glib, and how do I fix it?

I had that a few times too, upgrade then i had absolutely nothing on the menu bar at all, except for the logout menu.

I bought a mdk10 dvd which is better than the download i did, but it still has a few bugs in it, my network card drops out and have no connection, and then all of a sudden it's back again. My standard 3 button ps2 mouse drops out too sometimes. But this dvd was made from the cd iso's so that could be the cause of these problems.

rayjgu3 06-08-2004 08:47 PM

sorry i didnt mean to put that link in there OOOPPSie

Baco 06-09-2004 08:04 AM

nah, seems no1 knows how to solve it, so if u still have ur control center don't make any Mandrake updates till they fix this...
If u haven't noticed the problem is in the updates....

http://rpmfind.rediris.es/rpm2html/m...3mdk.i586.html

http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i586.rpm.html

Found by searching Google for perl-Glib[>= 1.021-3mdk as copied from this thread.

However, the fact that urpmi can't find these packages suggests that your urpmi repository list is not configured to search on the Internet for dependent files.

You might want to go to Easy URPMI and add some software sources before trying again to reinstall drakconf et al.

And those of you who have received the "everything already installed" message when trying to reinstall: have you then tried to uninstall and reinstall?

rayjgu3 06-10-2004 04:31 PM

ok i got it

from root prompt
urpmi drakconf
i got stuff saying something bout dependencies
looked at last file name gtk - perl something didnt write it down

so
"urpmi gtk-perl"

then
"urpmi drakconf"

gave me my mcc

still missing software manegment
so
"urpmi rpmdrake"

all is good now
hope this helps all of you others out there
