Exclamation Installed Linux and Windows....

Hi everyone!

I have four hard drives. One has Windows XP Pro installed on it, and the rest are free. So I disconnected two of them (they are all 80GB SATA drives), and installed Debian on the remaining one.

Then I installed GRUB, and it boots into GRUB fine when I restart and the Debian option runs fine, but the Windows XP does not. It gives an error saying that the disk cannot be found and to press esc to return to GRUB.

I know the XP exists though because if I disconnect the Linux hard drive completely, the XP boots fine....

Any ideas on getting it to run successfully?

Thank you

Post your /boot/grub/menu.lst file make sure to put it between code tags and we will see what can be done from there.

What I infer from the OP:
  1. Windows was on drive #1
  2. Windows drive still has mbr intact
  3. When Linux drive is connected, it becomes drive #1, but the grub config file does not have the right entry for Windows
What options for bootloader setup were offered when installing Debian?
