installed gentoo and went to reboot and got error 17: cannot mount selected partition

I just installed gentoo linux and i got to the reboot part. I rebooted and the grub loader came and this is what it looked like

kernel /kernel-2.6.11-gentoo-r9 root=dev/hda2

Error 17: cannot mount selected partition

Is this just a typo:
kernel /kernel-2.6.11-gentoo-r9 root=dev/hda2

If this is in your actual grub.conf you should change it to:
kernel /kernel-2.6.11-gentoo-r9 root=/dev/hda2

note the '/' before dev
