Question installation woes

i am trying to install redhat 7.1. i cannot get past the installation screen where it asks what type of media i am using for the install. for some reason it never can find my cd-rom or the images on the hard drive. i have been to innumerable web sites for help but nothing seems to work. please help!

hmm can you use a windows 98 startup floppy to access the cd-rom?

Did you maybe not complete the download? Did you do an md5 check? I once had a similar problem, simply fixed by redownloading from a different FTP.

Strange though, it was the same distro...

alright, i have a new problem. i did try the startup disk to load the cdrom drivers and then try it from there, but to no avail. i downloaded the iso's for 7.1 and put them in C:\. then i rebooted with the 7.3 boot disk and it took me through to the part i always get to. but when i specified 'hard drive', it gave me this error:

Error mounting /dev/loop1 on
/mnt/runtime (Invalid argument).
This shouldn't happen, and I'm
rebooting your system now.

so this is a bit more encouraging, don't you think? i have no idea what this means though...thanks for getting back to me
