Install Mandrake 9.0 into compaq nx9010

Good day, I have any problem. I can install Mandrake 9.0 into my notebook
(compaq nx9010), where W xp is running. If I insert the first install disk
into drive and restart my machine, I`ll see the Mandrake install dialog box.
So I press enter key to start the instalation. Then the instalation control my
hardware and then the process cut. Screen looks like:

....
....hda:DMA...
....
hda:IC25N040ATMR04-0, ATA DISK drive
....
Partion check:
hda: and in this place cursor is blinking.

I don`t know where is problem. I have reserved a free place in hard disk to
install Linux and problem isn`t on the install cd side (on another PC the
install process ending successfully). Please help me. Thank you, Zdenek Skodik

Check out this link for some tips on installing linux on this laptop:

http://freax.be/wiki/index.php/Insta...x9010%20laptop

Also, if you have broadband, you may want to download mdk10 as there is better hardware support. I haven't read through the entire above link but there seems to be an issue with firewire on this laptop. If you want to use mdk9, try hitting F1 when you see the install screen and it will take you to a boot prompt at which you should type:

linux nofirewire

That seemed to work for some people in the above link with rh9 which is similar to mdk9. Firewire support is much better in mdk10 which is why I recommended you give that a try.
