Install Mailx for gmail account, without /etc/...

I would like to use mailx for a gmail account.

What should we install as for the packages, and which is recommended to have in config files of user ~/.configfilestuffs.

I would not want to have a password and stuffs stored in /etc, it should be user related and located in $HOME

how to install/configure sendmail or postfix or whatever... which on e is the best, easiest, and working choice, that may be adviced?

Would have sombdy any ideas ?

(with ssl and secured, not pop3)

Thanks a lot
