It's the first time I'm seeing such a thing happen, where ou get errors just by booting from CD. Red Hat 9 gets installed very well. What might be causing

the errors with Fedora Core 4?

Warm regards,
Visham

Hi to all,

Actually I got the solution to this problem from here -> http://kerneltrap.org/node/4746

simply type some garbage at the boot prompt and then when you get the boot prompt back, then press ENTER..that's it..and amazing as it might sound, it really works.

Now I'm facing a new problem. When I tried to install Fedora Core 4 and came to the point where you get to configure your screen resolution, I chose 1024 x 780 and when the machine rebooted, I got the screen displaying "Out of range" message on a black screen.

What can I do to get the display back?

Warm regards,
Visham

This probably has to do with your configuration of the monitor during install. Did it detect your monitor--or did you tell something generic?
It is possible that your monitor wont work at the combination of resolution and refresh rate that you selected.

Hi pixellany,

Yes it did detect my monitor..and it had selected 800x600 screen resolution by default. But I wanted to have smaller icons and windows..so I changed it to 1024x780..when I rebooted, it gave the "out of range" msg. How can I reconfigure the resolution to 800x600 from text mode?

Warm regards,
Visham
