Unhappy INIT problem

hi folks...

I m using RH9 and facing a strange problem.... Everything was working fine earlier... Now the problem is that, when my init starts booting i get the following error messages:-

INIT : version 2.84 booting
/bin/bash: error while loading shared library
libtermcap.so.2:cannot open shared object file: input output error
INIT: Entering run level: 3
/bin/bash: error while loading shared library
libtermcap.so.2:cannot open shared object file: input output error
INIT: id "3" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: id "4" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: id "5" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: id "6" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: no more process left on this run level

What might be the problem? Shall i reinatall it? Is there any other way to solve it without reinstaling? Need some suggestion....

Thanks in advance....

It seems like there is a problems with libtermcap.so.2 file. Try booting into runlevel 1 and reinstall it (or the package that provides it) and see if this will solve your problem.

A similar problem has just occured with FC4 but I am unsure how to reinstal the several libraries that are giving similar errors. Tried running CD in rescue mode but rpm refuses to reinstall them.
