init Parent Process ID

Hi,

If INIT process doesn't have any parent then why it's parent process id is 0? Is scheduler is treated as its parent because scheduler process id is 0?

That's quite the question. I assume you're being serious. I suppose because in various different contexts, "0" can mean "nothing", "empty", "unavailable", "null", "nada", "zip", "nyet", "nein", "zilch", "off", etc.

If your were forced to choose a number to conveigh the concept "does not exist", most people would probably choose "0".
