info pages in the net?

Hi all.

I have lots (well, several) links to sites in the net where I can call up any man page I fancy. I never found any link for info pages.

Am I too stupid to come up with the right search pattern or are there no such pages? Any URLs would be very welcome .

"info" is the GNU TexInfo format - most info pages are the corresponding man page converted, though some manuals do have more complete info pages. eg. GNU documetation. So a visit to FSF is in order for online versions.

Of course, you already know that the info pages for everything you have installed is usually supplied with your distro?

Exactly, that is what I am looking for, since I recently found a huge difference in some instances.

Of course they are... for eg. from that page, I can find the texinfo page for "finger"
http://www.gnu.org/software/finger/m...texinfo.tar.gz

Have you tried http://tldp.org/FAQ/LDP-FAQ/ or searching on http://www.delorie.com/search/

Obviously I must be stupid . Your link does work but starting from http://www.gnu.org/software/ ... no chance. I searched for finger on the page -- nothing. But then ... "all GNU packages" ... aha. Impressive list, but sadly lacking e.g."mount" or "shutdown" or even "coreutils". Where would I find info for those?

They must be maintained somewhere ... could it be that there is no repository for them?
