Impression Lunar Linux

Hi all, I was looking for a source-code distro for long time that could suit my needs. I have installed Gentoo before, but I found it too complicated for my experience with linux.

While my searching I found Lunar but the reviews I found seemed out dated.

If any of you is using Lunar or used before, would like to know your impression about:

- the installation hard/easy, lengthy ,how long the installation will take ~
- the package/manager : up-to-date
- Maintain /how easy?
- Bugs

Thanks for your

I am installing Lunar right now but wont be able to help you much there because I only use it as minimal environment to compile stuff.Did use Gentoo for that before but after the last install failed even with stable for an minimal environment I gave up on that.

The installation takes about 1 hour to have a cli system on your disk. Then it is recommended to upgrade everything first which involves compiling gcc twice and after that it depends on what is new in the repos. That would all depend on your box and how fast it compiles and your connection to d/l the sources.

Complicated? Can't really tell how it handles a x setup and all the apps associated with it but you will see that building distros is not as easy as ppl. think when each and every thing you install wants to know what options you want enabled.

You could try installing it with Virtualbox to check it out - works fine for me.

thanks for your reply
actually i am using Arch, which use a similar installation method, exept the compiling i guess. but the installation man. is not as good as arch's.
i just came to know that the new beta packed with Xorg and xfce so no need for additional download.

i am not an xfce fan, usually gnome, but do not mind if use kde. but at least i could try it first and see what comes out of it.

thanks
