IIO: Advantages of IIO subsystem

Hello !

I am new to IIO subsystem.
Can someone list down the advantages of using IIO Subsystem over normal Input Subsystem ?

Also, please provide some good source to learn about Industrial I/O kernel subsystem.

Thanks!

If you're just wanting a brief intro into what IIO is, this article is a pretty good start: http://wiki.analog.com/software/linux/docs/iio/iio.

There is also this slideshow on Slideshare: http://www.slideshare.net/anilchowda...-anewsubsystem.
