if i do apt-get upgrade what happen to the old packages


is the packages will be delete, i don't want the the old packages to be in my system if i get a new one .

Please read the apt manual, it is short...

apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade && apt-get clean

same syntax if you use aptitude i guess
