ide corruption
hy,
i have problems with my 80 gb ide's.
The system is an old amd-k6200 with a via apollo southbrigde vt82c585, a highpoint hpt370 pci ide raid controller.
3 hd's connected to the hpt, one connected to the onboard ide controller.
the kernel shows messages like:
no space left on disk or
EXT2-fs error (device ide2(33,65)): ext2_free_branches: Read failure, inode=65612, block=-2114230288
EXT2-fs error (device ide2(33,65)): ext2_new_block: Free blocks count corrupted for block group 441
EXT2-fs error (device ide2(33,65)): ext2_new_block: Free blocks count corrupted for block group 441
or the system crashs with total fs system corruption!!
i use debian woody, stable with 2.4.18-bf24 kernel but also tried a 2.4.18 custom kernel with a hpt37x driver provided by highpoint !!
its no fun to remount the partitions everytime to check them via e2fsck to repair it... is use at the moment the ext2 fs, tried first ext3 - system was only 2 days alive ... with ext2 perhaps more ...
what can i do ??? or did anyone experienced something like that or do anyone use and get any system running with 2 80 gb harddisks ? im thinking about buying a new system ...!
thanks for your help ---
cu robert.
