icons get messed
Every time I start KDE I notice that all the icons on the desktop are messed. I arrange them and when I come back to KDE they are messed up again. They are always lined up vertically and aligned to grid. How can I get them to stay where I want? I'm using SimplyMepis Linux and the KDE is 3.3.

To arrange your icons, right click on the dektop, then on the menu go to "Icons", then "Align to Grid". This makes it so when you move them they all line up nicely. After you have them in the places you want, turn off "Align to grid" and they will stay there when you log into KDE again. Not sure if this works on SimplyMepis but it works on Suse 9.2 with KDE 3.3.2

I can't get four icons to stay put. Whenever I boot up, the same four desktop icons have moved. They move to the same place, and those places are off gird. The effect of their moving is also to move another icon or two off the grid. I therefore have to re-arrange the desktop every time I boot up. I've tried aligning to grid, and then unchecking the selection, as suggested. However, it does not work.
Has anyone got another idea. It's very annoying. |
It happens to me also, but not each and every boot, but after 15-20 boots. Couldn't find a solution so I got used with it eventually.:D
