I am using rhel5.
As I rebooted my system, Icon are disappeared from desktop. right click of mouse is also not working. I know that I hvn't made any modification in any configuration file. Please tell, how to recover this...
Fedora had a problem like this a few years back caused by Gamin and the Kernel, have you changed or your updated kernel? From looking at bugzilla it appears it was fixed by the next kernel update - still with this in mind I can't imagine Redhat would be making the same mistake in RHEL5
Also does the system boot to init 5 or does it boot to init 3 and then you manually startx? if it boots direct to init 5 change it and then see if you get any errors in the console after the failure
Thanks for reply..
Same things happens in runlevel 5 and with startx.I am not getting any error, bckground is there, only icons are disappeared. There is no error in X log.
