Icon text wrapping in Gnome

Is there anyway to prevent gnome from wrapping the icon text horribly, expecially on the desktop. It shouldn't wrap the middle of a word to the next line. A folder name like "Documents" loses at least the s to the next line. That cans readability. Changing the icon size via strech icon, doesn't help. There must be a way to change the text area size, so this wrapping doesn't occur. I love gnome, but it's ease of configuring leaves alot to be desired at times, compared to KDE. Ironically, of course, one gnome's biggest pluses is the fact that it rarely needs configured at all, something I've grown to appreciate.

I'm gonna bump this, but I've found multiple unanswered threads on the same subject. If someone could come along and just so no definitively or give some information on maybe who to ask, that'd be great. This is possible in KDE.
