I'm trying to use IceWM as my window manager for KDE, so I put the following in my ~/.Xclients-default :
Code:
/usr/bin/icewm-session &
exec /usr/bin/startkde
exit 1
But when this all loads up, KDE's panel/taskbar loads along with IceWM's taskbar, so I'm not sure what to do. How can I tell KDE to use IceWM, or configure the system so that one or the other doesn't come up?
ALTERNATELY:
The real problem is that when I'm running KDE, there is a multi-second(!) delay whenever I click on a text box, or when I load a program. I don't mind a little bit of delay, but also, I can't click anywhere (mouse moves, but input acceptance is delayed) and my keyboard cursor disappears. I know that this is the window manager's fault (kwin) because when I'm using IceWM there's Zero delay, and my mouse can click and keyboard cursors aren't frozen. It's as if kwin is doing some major processing for some reason, every time a window pops up. I just upgraded my system, so I know that's not the problem.
