icewm vs kde acpi

ok, here is the situation, i'm on a laptop and obvoiusly i would like to be able to monitor my battery

now for a while i could do this. but of course, all good things come to end when i messed up my partitions and had to reinstall.

and now it doesn't show the battery monitor. acpi works fine, but when i do acpi -V it only shows if the ac-adapter is plugged in. but...the /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state file shows the charging and capacity, so its not like its not being read.

so yesterday iw as just playing around and installed fluxbox and then i switched to icewm and whadda know, it shows the battery capacity on the taskbar.

problem is, i doon't like using icewm, or at least i would like to have the ability to see my battery capcity in kde.

so does anyone know how to go about setting this up?

but one thing, i was trying to compile kbatt and i was getting this error:

checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 2.2.2) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.

and here is the end of config.log

Code:
configure: failed program was:
#include "confdefs.h"
#include <qglobal.h>
#include <qapplication.h>
#include <qevent.h>
#include <qstring.h>
#include <qstyle.h>
#include <qiconview.h>
#if ! (QT_VERSION >= 222)
#error 1
#endif

int main() {
    QStringList *t = new QStringList();
    QIconView iv(0);
    iv.setWordWrapIconText(false);
    QString s;
    s.setLatin1("Elvis is alive", 14);
    int magnolia = QEvent::Speech; /* new in 2.2 beta2 */
    return 0;
}

and so i looked up what the hell qt was and apparently kde was built with it? and should come with it? so i'm kind of curious as to why this failed

If your running KDE you have QT installed but its either not finding it in your current users path or you have a newer or older version not compatible with kbatt.

your missing the qt development libraries, mandrake does not seem to be very geared to compiling things from source(have a look at neorich's thread in programming). the solution is to find the qt development rpms. good luck.
