i810-tco module problems
I reinstalled Slackware 9.0 on my secondary system, which uses an OEM motherboard with the i810 chipset. Everything worked perfectly fine, until I restarted to make font changes. When the system came back up, the bootup was complaining, with this error:
insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/char/i810-tco.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/char/i810-tco.o.gz failed i810 TCO timer init: failed to reset NO_REBOOT flag, reboot disabled by hardware insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/char/i810-tco.o.gz: init_module: No such device That is repeated several times over during the bootup. When I run 'insmod i810-tco', I get: Using /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/char/i810-tco.o.gz /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/char/i810-tco.o.gz: init_module: No such device I'm fairly new to Linux, so I really have no idea what any of this means. One thought that crossed my mind, however: it's complaining about chipset problems. This motherboard is old enough that it doesn't have a heatsink on the chipset, and the system is in an area of low ventilation. Could it be overheating? |
Compile and or turn on all acpi features before trying again, and it will probably find the device.

By compile, I assume you mean 'recompile kernel', which I did. I made sure to include all the ACPI stuff. After it finished and I rebooted with the new kernel, it's still giving me the same error.

I'd like to add that this problem is also effecting my NIC, as I cannot get any network access of any kind, while I could before i started recieving this error.
