I want to install Linux but
my hardrive is capped of at 8GB I lnow for a fact I have a 40GB hard drive. Is ther anyway to fix this?

How do you have your partitions setup? Do you have any other OS's installed?
|
just win98se
|
Is it possible that Win98 is using the other 32GB?

Can't be
Right now the only thing installed on my computer is Win98SE. When I go to Mycomputer/Hard disk it shows 7.8GB as the maxium space. |
When you run the SuSe 8.2 install program what does the partitioner tell you? It should show a 40gb HD formatted FAT32 and then offer you the choice of resizing the FAT32 partition and installing Linux on the free space. Does it not?

I haven't downloaded SuSE yet. So when I download itSuSE will auyomatically fix this?

It's a problem within Windows(Go figure) that I thought I could fix.
Can I still DualBoot Windows and Linux with 8GB? |

If your BIOS date is prior to 1997 that's probably what is happening to you; the simplest solution is to install a HD-controller card at a cost of about $40 USD, to take the place of your existing controller and allow all 40 GB to be recognized. |
thanks but i'm broke so...
|
check your bios settings

How?
