I want Linux to stop asking for the video mode

I would like Linux to start without asking me about the "undefined video mode" or whatever it says (I quit paying attention), because I always press <SPACE> anyway. Can I bypass this?

Errm.. never seen such errors. Perhaps if you reconfigure X correctly it won't ask for such "undefined modes" when starting X..

I think, perhaps, it says that you "passed an undefined mode number"?

Yes, I think that's it exactly.

Well, moderator, if X is configured incorrectly, it's Linux's (MEPIS's) fault, not mine, because I haven't fooled with it since installing this distro a few months ago. I wouldn't know [I]how[I] to tamper with X settings.

Hi

I got the same error on one of my machines, and again only in MEPIS no other distribution I've ever used on that machine gave me that error. I no longer use MEPIS, but I found this on the Mepis Lovers site.

I hope this helps.

hello, i saw the same message when booting Linux,
it is asking to choose from a list of video modes or press "space"...
try video modes and when you find one that suits your console do this -
rdev -v "number of mode"
