I passed LPI102. Yay!

I'm now Linux Professional Institute LPIC1 certified! Huzzah!

I haven't been especially lucky seeking out jobs n' such like, and reading this recently didn't give much hope for tecchies (personally I'm considering a move to Japan). So this came as good news.

The LPI101 exam was relatively easy but the LPI102 exam was difficult. I recommend both exams and of course O'Reilly's book LPI Certification in a Nutshell which is good but riddled with errors.

That's all. No other news. As you were.

not bad for a brummie. i've read someo of the example questions etc, but what was it like in real life? i'd like to think i'd find it pretty trivial (series 1 at least) reckon it would be? surely it can't be harder than the driving theory test

I'm not sure about the driving theory test coz I didn't do one. Hehe.

The 101 exam is easy enough because it's system level stuff - sed, grep, awk and regexps. The 102 exam is well, the rest of it.

There was one question asking about slave DNS servers and another about the details of the /etc/printcap files for samba shares - eek! It's one thing looking at the manpage :study: if you're not sure but it's a different ballgame if you're relying on whatever switches you remember

I think the first time you do the exam it's purposefully difficult. The objectives are here. The best thing is to try the exams listed in the linuxquestions.org links section or the here - they give a good indication of the level needed and you can always post your results!

It's not expensive at $100 and the exam development process is rigorous enough. I would say that though wouldn't I?

:D

Thanks everyone. I actually couldn't have done it without this site.
