I need a word processor that can read .SDW files

I have some documents that are .SDW files. The computer I made them on had StarOffice, and I'm pretty sure SDW was its format. Does anyone know a program that can read them?--I don't have StarOffice anymore, and OpenOffice doesn't seem to recognize .SDW.

Hello newbiesforever

I've got lots of .sdw files here from earlier usage of Open Office and they open quite happily in the version 2.3.0 that is the latest on my machine.

If they won't open by clicking on them, can you use "File menu - Open" on them. That has options for various versions of Star Office in the dropdowns.

That didn't work. I have no idea why.

Hello newbiesforever

I wasn't aware that the .sdw standard had changed but no reason why I should be I suppose.

Is there any possibility that you could try one of these files on another installation to see if it is a problem with yours?

It may, of course, be an incompatibility between Star Office and Open Office but it may be worth trying an older version of Open Office as something that was in being closer to the time the documents were created. There is a link here to a download site for Open Office I.1.5 that may be worth a try:
