I hear that Peppermint is a good distro.

I hear that Peppermint is a good distro. I am reviewing distros and heard that peppermint will run Windows programs.

Anyone, have experience of it is it worth trying?

All Linux distros will run Windows apps via the “wine” application. Not all apps will run though. I know nothing about peppermint.

I've tried it and was not amazed.

It's a perfectly valid and viable distribution, I simply did not find it to be any more special than typical full desktop distributions I've used.

You seem to have a few distros in your profile, I suggest you try it for yourself.

Have just tried it and made it as another super distro I have made a windows 10 desktop you can see it at ginamiller.co.uk/peppermint.php still editing it though so you can just see the desktop.

It needs more work to make a super Windows 10 out of it see the linux mint version which is much easier at ginamiller.co.uk/super.php

my third super is kali but that does have two desktops one a Windows 10 desktop that can be seen at ginamiller.co.uk/kali.php

My idea is that with a Windows 10 desktop people can easily change to linux. I think they are just lazy and think their is a big learning curve because they have had to spend weeks learning the poor Windows 10 desktop. With my desktops it only takes about 5 minutes to learn. Instructions are at ginamiller.co.uk/setdesktop.php

Windows 10, IMHO, is a terrible user interface and I personally would never use anything that looks or acts like it. We have choices using Linux though so we each get to pick what we like best.

... WHAT?!?

Sorry.

To each their own. I have no interest in any Linux desktop shaped to appear as if it's Windows 10.

I thought your question was whether or not people thought Peppermint was a good distribution.

Well it has a bad wallpaper but with the windows it looks better. I am just now setting the desktop up for a help file.

I think Mint is better but peppermint is supposed to be faster.

I only installed it because it is supposed to run Windows programs but have not found anything to see if this happens.

As mentioned in an earlier post which you apparently didn't read, ALL Linux distros will run windows applications using wine. Some apps run, some don't, you just have to experiment.

Here's a Slackware desktop made to look like Winblows. You might like this one...

Heh! It's meant as a joke, my friend. It's not a practical Windows look-like interface.

Pity it looked good was the idea that Windows was going to blow the world up?

I have tried Peppermint and it uses many web applications like Google'S ChromeOS. I personally didn't care for it. There is no Linux distro that can run Windows programs without Wine and will only run some Windows programs, not all. I wouldn't call it a bad distro, but I have tried better. I would suggest you look at MX Linux. They have MX Tools that make it user friendly for people who use Windows. Keep in mind that you can move the panel (taskbar) to the bottom like in Windows with MX Tweak. You can theme it to your liking.

Nah... the idea was that Windows is designed and maintained just about as well as Chernobyl NPP was, so...

What could go wrong?
