I am getting all 0 when i use make xconfig


I am trying to upgrade my kernel to 2.6.5 and i have a complete install of fedora and i have my video drivers in and working but when i try to do a make xconfig to use the graphical version of configuring the kernel all i get is zeros accually they look more like square zeros but for some reason it seems to work i just cant read anything for the reaseon mintioned above any help what do i need like i said i did a complete install i mean complete and it took forever well i i cant complain over 5 gigs for about an 1hr is not bad anyway if i can get some help it would be appriciated and i know that i can use make menuconfig want to try ot avoid that but i last resort i can i have tryed it before would really like the graphical for ease of use

well, make menuconfig is, imho, alot easier then xconfig. but, it looks like your only option. did you make sure you downloaded the whole file? maybe it was corrupted...

the only reason i want to use make xconfig is to be able see the item description i just found out the other day that you can hit control and well i forget what but it will show the description on the item but thanks for the reply and o ya i did make sure i had the full sorce and it was not corrupt

You can get that description in make menuconfig as well.
Just arrow over to the help button while the entry in question is highlighted, and hit the spacebar.
You get a pretty good description of whatever it is, plus usually a generic suggestion of whether to enable it or not.

I find Xconfig kind of confusing anyway.
I like the nice, simple ncurses display.
