I've lost my start menu and all taskbar Icons in KDE?

I upgraded my system and when I rebooted I no longer had a start menu or anything on the taskbar. Has anyone had this happen before and how did you fix it?

Thanks

kde user recovery

sounds like something happend to the permissions or the directory of your .kde directory. A quick fix would be to mv .kde .kdebad and restart kde. This will cause kde to create a new .kde directory.

You can then compare .kdebad with .kde and try to discover what happened.

Make sure that kicker, kdesktop and the icons were upgraded/still installed. Also what are you running for a distribution?

I solved the problem, sort of. I rebuilt the taskbar/system tray using the add applet/application thing. It may not have been the best way but it worked. I have completely lost the underground kde theme it keeps saying the path isnt found when I boot up. It was a really nice theme. Oh well I guess.
