Hi all! I need help big time! Ok. I'm so new to this I can't figure out how to install anything. I downloaded 2 games and Corel Photo. How do I install these. I finally got the cd to open but now what? I'm using Linux Mandrake 7.2. Mostly kde and some gnome. I'm willing to switch to Gates Linux if such an awful thing exists at the moment!
And could someone tell if there is such a manual or site that exists that is written for someone with no experience at all. You know turn me on here. Thanks Liz
Okay, if you mean that you got the CD mounted, and can view files on it, then from there you want to copy the files to where ever you want to install them, or if they are a type of tag.gz file, you can issue the command tar -xzvf /filename /destination-to-be-installed-at
Most of the time when you get these un tarred. They usually have README files or INSTALL files that tell you the exact instrucitons on getting them installed.
Let us know.
Also, see if you can get ahold of a copy of O'Reilly's Running Linux, and maybe Linux Complete. There is all sorts of good information on the net about linux, and this is a great place to get answers as well. People here are helpful, it helps to read how-to's and man pages as well.

Thank-you all so much! I have gotten all of this yet as I am having some problems with freeze ups, Not sure why, but have someone helping me. But, these links are all great also and I will be shortly trying the suggestions for mounting my software. Thanks again!
