Huge Probpem with gnome HELP!!

Ok I was using my install of fedora core 5 perfectly fine. I had just reinstalled it so I was doing the usual setup eg. mp3 support, unistalling programs i don;t need ect ect..... however all the sudden I got an eror with my network browser, some gnome natalis thing wouldn;t start.. so i rebooted only to be greeted after login with some weird gui.... all I have is a termanal, X clock and a mozilla box that opens up... no icons, no icon bars, no back ground nothing..... what did i do???? all help appreciated thanx

I think the key may be here---especially the part about uninstalling programs.

Tell us more specifically what you did from the time that it worked to when it did not--what files you changed, deleted, etc.

Note that it may be easier to reinstall than to unravel something like this.....

I uninstalled the gimp, helix player, cd player, a few other things like that... and then installed XMMS and the wma plug in for it..... After that I installe dteh nvidia drivers via yum and rebooted... after login everything looked as it should I went to acess the network via the connect to server button under teh palces menue, but when i clicked it i got some error that it couldn;t start some gnome chid service or something like that, the same when i tried to browse the network, so i rebooted thinking tat might solve the problem... and wehn it started and I loged in here I was with whatever it is I have... also I noticed this before i reinstalled fedora and it came back after updateing my fresh system so i think it's a glitch but when it's first starting up udev says it time out an dthat it's continueingin the background, this has never been a problem but I think that I shpuld metion it...... and tahts about it

I fixed it, I had somehow uninstalled gnome so I reinstalled the GNOME desktop invironment group from teh command line with yum......
