perhaps grep

If alof or other tools give too much info, perhaps grep could help?
Anything command that outputs text to the console (stdout) can be "grepped" to select only output lines that contain a specified word. The format is usually

commandName | grep scanWord

See man grep for more.

Having said that, this will only solve your problem if
1. alof outputs text to stdout (which I don't know)
2. the stuff you're interested in can be separated from the other stuff by a keyword

Good Luck

Hi

I´ve already thought about using grep yes, but lsof is not giving me enought information about writings, sure, it lists open files, but i really only want the files that are being written.....im not sure this is possible, but hopefully it is :P....I´ve a 4x webservers that read from 1 box with the material the other 4 serve...and the box that supplys the material is kindah under alot of writing and when it starts writing it starts to load up due to blocked processes.....:O
