Howto remove unneed printer files.

Greetings all,

I've been trying to trim the fat out of my install of LMDE. I have a sort of gut level need to keep my computers as free as possible from useless files. Bleachbit and orphaner did good work, like getting rid of Azerbajani help files that I can get by without (I often wonder why that stuff is included by default in most distros). Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone has any good ideas of where/how I might do some deeper cleaning. In particular, during my last backup, I noticed hundreds of what look like printer definition files scrolling past on my screen and I'm wondering if I could delete them.

If you are comfortable with your knowledge of the system then "find" can help you pin point zero calorie files.

Adjust the parameters to what you are aiming to accomplish. After you review and tweak then add the -exec option to delete. You need to be certain though.

If not ....

sudo find / -type f -and -atime +30 -and -size 250K

sudo find / -type f -and -atime +30 -and -size 250K -exec rm {} \;

You could also remove the contents of /usr/share/doc. Icons are another bloat too.

Also, I like to use ncdu to interactively look as to where file bloat is. To install in LMDE,

sudo apt-get install ncdu

printer driver
