howto get temperature sensors working
Hi everyone,
I have an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ on an Abit KX7-333 (via kt333 chipset) motherboard, running the 2.6 kernel. I am trying to be able to use my temperature sensors, but with no luck. Apparently I am supposed to use the i2c-viapro and adm1021 modules. I have compiled them both with the kernel and loaded them using "modprobe". However, gkrellm2 still says "No sensors detected". I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out whether it is gkrellm2 or my modules or something else that is the problem. Thanks! - Phil |

I see no mention of having gone to the LM sensors page and having gotten the user tools and compiling them so have you? I believe you need lm_sensors-2.8.2.tar.gz or better for a 2.6 kernel at least that is what I use. http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/ |
Not if you're using gentoo and the 2.6 gentoo kernel :-)
Actually, I ended up getting it working (without lm_sensors, btw)... I had forgotten to load the thermal zone module. But now I have a new problem. I have no idea what to set the "offset" and "factor" to in gkrellm. It's displaying my CPU temperature as 96 degrees F, and I know it's closer to 120. Do the offset and factor depend on the CPU, the MBD, or both? Does anyone know what values I should use for my particular hardware? Thanks! - Phil |
