Howto: Diskless client Linux-machine with extra old AMD <300Mhz, without PXE&USB boot

Hello, I got some pretty old pc's. The pc are old enough to be with Linux distro ;) and new enough to do something with it, for just few persons.

So they have :
- cdrom x 1 (that can boot)
- 1 x USB (no bios boot)
- and no harddrive
- 1 x cable eth0 ethernet pci card (we've got some luck!)

Is there any hope that a cdrom or usb pendrive, launch a PXE so that I can have a normal PC with a harddrive distant on a "server" machine, that can be further installed (not a knoppix fixe image).

Thanks for the info.
Seems impossible, ... impossible is not Linux :)

You might want to check the Ubuntu wiki option at the link below it has instructions there on booting from cdrom/floppy using the Linux Terminal Server Project which is pretty much what you want for your situation.
