HOWTO: Change your mouse cursor.

Hi !

A friend told me how to do this, especially on gentoo or debian distrib. And i wanted to post it here so that everyone can enjoy it !

First check out the "index.theme" file with this command:
Code:
find / -iname 'index.theme'
You should get something like this : <basedir>/default/index.theme. Go to the <basedir> directory. List it. Each directory that is not the default one is theoretically a cursor theme.
Then edit the "index.theme" file and change the "Inherits" property with the dirname of the theme you want. Be careful, it's case sensitive.
Next, relaunch the xserver (Ctrl+Alt+BSpace)

Now all i need is a good site for cursor themes.
I hope it was interresting
See ya !

what desktop is that for?

as X doesn't care about what sets the cursor, any program can set the primary cursor, therefor its a matter of the desktop that you are using to set, and how they set the cursor
