How We Built An Internet TV Box for $30
I found this artical 'How We Built An Internet TV Box for $30' at http://www.2millionblog.com/2009/07/...ox_for_30.html. The only problem is that it is based on Winders XP.
Does anyone know how to do the same thing using Linux?? All I what to do is view TV over the internet. Digital TV signals sucks in my area. |
Yes, the article is about Hulu which a quick google suggest it supports Fedora and Ubuntu but it should be possible to get it to work with other distributions.

See antennaweb.org for your address. I suspect that you should receive a number of OTA channels.
Be warned that OTA in old analog over VHF was way better than the new generally UHF digital. You may need to use a good receiver like silicondust or other and get a good 8 bay uhf antenna. You might be able to find a place like this in your area. http://www.discountelectronics.com/i..._detail&p=5939 A cheap computer with some sort of warranty would be my suggestion. I'd buy a new one before I spent too much on a used one with no warranty. The cheapest system new should run linux enough to view some hulu. Pay movies like netflix use microsoft's silverlight and it can't be replaced by linux. |
