How to use a *.sig file?

I went to this site: ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/grub/ to download a fresh copy of Grub. Instead of a md5sum file, they have a *.sig file there. How do I use the .sig file to verify my download?

Thank you

Aha, thank you very much. I had just never used gpg for integrity checks.
