How to update the plugin/software of the local wordpress site.

Hi all,

I have Live wordpress sites download to local server. They are running locally similar to the former. However I couldn't figure out how to update/upgrade the plugin/software upon request. On running one/two local site(s) a big red-mark displayed requesting to update the plugin. On clicking the red-mark the "Update Plugins" window popup.(see attached file).

Please shed me some light how to complete the details there? Thanks

That's the dialog for setting up for on-demand updates over the web.

Do it the old school way: Download the plugin, unzip it, and FTP or copy the files into place, overwriting the old files. (It's probably a good idea to make a backup of the old one first.)

Hi,

Thanks for your advice.

With following steps the local site can be updated in the same way as the Live:-
$ sudo apt-get install php-pear openssh-server libssh2-php

$ sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www

On browser;
http://localhost/wordpress
login

Update Plugins
Contact Form 7
Jetpack by WordPress.com
mb.miniAudioPlayer

-> Return to Plugins pages

That is all.
