i am doing a project for school where i have to make a tutorial for installing a distro. i was wondering how i can take screenshots of the installation? i don't want to use a digital camera to take the pictures externally because they will be ugly.

The first step is to locate the Search button at the top of this page.
Then search. You'll find lots and lots of threads about taking sceenshots.

I personally use gimp mostly.

That's just what I use. There are many other ways to do it. Hence, the search recommendation.

One easy way would be to use VMware and install a distro.

I'm not sure about other distros but during a Redhat graphical installation, you can press SHIFT-Print Screen and a screenshot of the current installation screen will be taken. These are stored in the following directory:
/root/anaconda-screenshots/

go with either vmware or virtual pc (i know its a M$ product)
install your os there and you can take SS of every step via ctrl-printscreen and pasting the SS into your favorite graphics editor (photoshop preffered).

Thats how i built my slack install guide for a site coming soon!.
