how to shutdown x-windows in redhat9


hello ,everybody!!
i wonder how to shutdown the x windows in redhat9.

<CTRL> + <ALT> + <F2> will take you to a shell login.

<CTRL + ALT + F7 takes you back to the Xserver.

Kills X completely.

If you mean you don't like a default graphical login, you must edit
/etc/inittab

change the "initdefault" setting.

Or open a terminal and as root type

init 3

and it'll kill x and dump you to command line mode

thanks all help.
but i mean how can i cut between command line and x windows in order to save computer resource, regardless the entries in /etc/inittab is 3 or 5.
