How to setup and configure static ip


I added new static ip in my linux virtual machine now i'm trying to ping on google.com but it's not working

the gateway looks a bit scary 0.0.0.0 is that what you intended?

Hi;
1. Try to ping your default gateway first before going out your network.
2. Add DNS server in order to resolve the domain-name.

Right-click on the network adapter you want to assign an IP address and click Properties. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click the Properties button. Now change the IP, Subnet mask, Default Gateway, and DNS Server Addresses. When you're finished click "OK"

Good old ifconfig, try it:

ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.128 netmask 255.255.255.0
route add default gw 192.168.1.129
