How to set different background in workspaces

Hi, I just installed RH9 and I want to set different backgrounds in the four workspaces. But when I use the "background preference" tool to change a background it changes those for all workspaces. HOw can I do that?

Thanks.

He said RH 9, isn't it obvious?

More than likely in your "background preferences" you have a check box that says "use common background" uncheck that.

Cool

I use gnome.

There is no checkbox for "use common background" and anyting like that. Acturally, you can only pick the image there.

That's the behaviour for Gnome on RH8 as well. You cannot have different backgrounds under Gnome (AFAIK). Any KDE users out there? I have vague memories of being able to do this -- possible with KDE -- but I may be thinking of yet another WM.

Yes you can have different wallpapers for each desktop in KDE. It's done like was mentioned above.
