how to restore mozilla saved passwords ubuntu/ thunderbird recover

I have done some searches and none of them tell me how to recover or where/what the file name is for the Mozilla passwords. I was able to recover the bookmarks.

I corrupted my system doing the 9.4 to 9.10 upgrade and I am trying to rebuild the user one piece at a time.

I also need to know how can i recover my mail from Thunderbird.

Basically I have set up a new user and am trying to move stuff over from the old user one piece at at time until I can figure out how to fix the old user.

Thank you

I have /home/user/.mozilla/firefox and I go into the dir there but dont see the file mentioned din any of the directories.. May eb they changed the names since that was written.

Looks like the file may be /home/user/.mozilla/firefox/something.default/signon3.txt

This has the format mentioned in the above link.

I copied the file over to the new dir but dont see the passwd entered. Ill play with it some more and see what I come up with.,

Found this on mizilla site

Signons3.txt is used in Firefox 3.0 instead of the older signons.txt or signons2.txt file (the older file is left in the profile folder for backward compatibility). Starting in Firefox 3.5, signons3.txt is converted to signons.sqlite. [1]
So I have to figure out how to convert signons3.txt to signons.sqlite.. I had a feeling...

ok got my sessions restored now on to the Tomboy issues..

May be some day I figure out the xsession issue...

I took the sessionstore.js file from the old account and copied it over. brought up mozilla and then killed it from root. Then restarted it and it now see everything.

Hopefully some of this will help someone else ...
