How to repair X Windows?
I am having a problem when startup in X windows and console mode now. Once loaded all the services (ok) , it suppose to load the login window.

My pc hangs, when all the services finish loaded, the screen shows nothing.
I think i am having a problem that not enough hd space to load X window.

The hd utilization is 100%, this happens because i tried to create .iso file and there is not enough of hd space for it.

Is there any way to shut of the X Window when startup? Or any idea to solve this problem?

Anyone can help? Thank You......

Have you tried fixing your system by using a live-cd such as knoppix?
Have you tried booting into a different runlevel?
What distribution are you using, exactly?

I dont know knoppix, how to use it?
What do u mean by booting into a different runlevel? The 3 and 5 from inittab? I cant go to console now.....

How to set go to console mode at startup? I have a grub boot loader now, anything can do there to repair it?

I am using fedora core 2

If you can't get to a console by pressing ctrl-alt-F1 then in FC2 you can change 'id:5:initdefault:' to 'id:3:initdefault:' in /etc/inittab to boot to a non-graphical run-level or else you can change the run-level at boot time.

For the former see
For the latter see

(This last one explains that you need to add a number to the end of your kernel line in grub)

I know that in Fedora Core 3 (it should work in FC2 as well), if in GRUB you use the "init 3" cheatcode (without the quotes) it will boot you into console. To use it just have FC2 selected and type "init 3". After that you can try to delete that file you were talking about, though I dont think thats the problem. I forget what command resets X config, but I am sure somebody here knows it. As for knoppix, if you have another PC with internet access(which I assume you do because your posting this), then download the iso from the knoppix website (just do a google search). Knoppix is a live CD linux distro, which means you just boot off the CD without your harddrive being used.

Hope that helps,

Thanks to you all man!!!

This URL helps me to solve the problem :)

I boot in to console and remove files so now is not 100% hd utilization anymore. The X Window startup successfully.

Thanks again for the help :)
