Smile How to remove GUI or Desktop environment in linux

I have installed a linux distro in my desktop machine. Now I am trying to optimise the memory size of the root partition so I thought of removing the graphical user interface and the desktop environment. How to do this? (how to remove GUI and desktop environment from an installed distribution)....

Thanks!

Post RE: How to remove GUI or Desktop environment in linux

It would help if you posted the distro you are using as most distros use different methods to install/uninstall packages or source.

I am using 2X-PXES(A thinclient linux distribution) as I want to reduce the size I thought of removing the Desktop environment and this 2X-PXES doesn't have any package manager it has to be done manually(If you are not familiar with this distro please tell me how to do the same (Removing GUI) in Fedora core-5 with out using the package manager what are all the necessary that has to be removed so that I can say my fedora is with out GUI).

Thanks!
