I had a nice install of Debian stable, in which I had finally gotten smart & made /home a seperate partition. GRUB packed in on me, and after spending too much time to resolve it, I decided to try Kanotix out. During the install, there didn't seem to be a way to indicate /home was elsewhere & don't format it. So here I am, post-install, with a great testing distro (I downgraded) and I'm trying to figure out how to point to the other partition, hda8 as /home instead of using the /home that was installed in the one big / partition, hda7.

Any help would be ... helpful!! And thanks as always.

You edit your /etc/fstab and add an entry mounting /dev/hda8 at /home.

Ah, I knew it was something dumb. What threw me was that my fstab form deb stable didn't have /dev/hda mount ing at home - it mounted at /media/hda8.

I'll give this a try - thanks.
